VMWARE WEBCAST: HOW THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AVERTED IT DISASTER DURING HURRICANE DOLLY
Email and Web-based applications are critical to the day-to-day operations of the University of Texas at Brownsville (UTB). They are the principal means for their staff, students and faculty of 18,000 to collaborate and communicate. Situated in the Gulf of Mexico in the heart of hurricane country, UTB needs to ensure that these vital IT systems will be up and running at all times.
In this webcast, members of the UTB IT department will discuss how they used the combination of CA XOsoft and VMware® virtualization to implement a cost-effective disaster recovery environment at a remote “hot site” in Austin, Texas, 400 miles away from their Brownsville campus, and how their solution helped them keep UTB’s IT services up and running across campus during Hurricane Dolly in 2008.
Attend this webcast to learn more about:
- The specifics of UTB’s disaster recovery solution for communications services and data
- How UTB failed over Exchange, SharePoint and IIS services in a matter of minutes
- Lessons learned from preserving IT services and data during a real-life natural disaster

"After meeting Sanity Solutions at one of the many technology seminars I attend,
I decided to talk to them one on one for our storage needs. They not only brought
the right solution to me, they keep me up to date on new technologies as they
become available. I enjoy receiving invites to their hosted events; not only do I learn a thing or two – but the coffee is great."
